Re: Brokeback Mountain
I haven’t seen this movie, nor do I intend to. I’m not a bible beater or a preacher. I believe in God and His book. I am sick and tired of having gay & lesbian lifestyles thrown in my face every time I turn around. For Hollywood to embrace this sin and in some way glorify it with this storyline is a disgrace.
Now I’ve heard that this movie could win awards. That’s insane!!!! Who are the idiots that believe this warrants our attention much less an award. Please boycott this trash in our theaters.
Americans need to start speaking out about this kind of crap in our culture. Gay and lesbian lifestyles are not alternative…they are unacceptable. Don’t take my word for it, read His book. Pay attention to what it says. Someday, there will be a test.

It’s time for this kind of so-called entertainment to cease. "
I saw Brokeback Mountain this weekend and it was an amazing movie... Like Scarlett Johannson in The Girl with a Pearl Earring, Heath Ledger's acting was so understated and intrinsic that he communicated more through his facial expressions than through his sparse dialogue. It's a powerful movie from a powerful short story (which I read a few years back), that I hope lures more people to see it than turns them away.
It seems that the blog world has talked about this movie to death, and there are so many dumb blogs that say simply "Go see it" (uhhh, duh. What's the matter? Can't express anything intelligent to say other then "Go see it"?), that it's almost pointless to iterate other people's similar sentiments. It's not the "gay cowboy movie" that closeminded asses and those limited in educational scope seem to describe it as. If these shallow people dug a little deeper, they'd realize that on the surface, yes, it's just that, but if you pulled back and actually understood the film, it's a story of star-crossed lovers who happen to be guys. Attach the social statement to it and it becomes a treatise on society... Attach a political statement to it and it becomes one of gender inequality and acceptance. Attach an emotional statement to it and it becomes one of personal strife and internal conflict and self-damnation. Attach a religious statement to it and you end up with squat.
If you want to see vacuous pap, go see King Kong. But if you want a thought-provoking and incredibly well-acted commentary on societal and personal mores, check out this movie... You'll feel that much more intelligent of a person.
If you read this and said, "huh?", well then... ummm, I heard McDonalds has a few job openings!
And if you read the subject line and didn't get the allusion, then ummmm... I heard the third grade is having an ice cream social. You should go!

Fletcher got the puppy he always wanted. It was a playful golden retriever that he never knew he wanted till he saw it, sitting in the window.
Every so often, Oscar would surprise him, hiding behind the door to jump up at him as he walked into the house. He'd bark and lick his face, and wag his tail wildly like a windshield wiper during a heavy storm. But most of the time, Fletcher was left wondering whether or not he should have gotten the dog in the first place.
enjoyed being around him, but didn't necessarily need to be with him all the time. Maybe he was an independent dog that only needed him when he felt like it. "Maybe I just need to leave him alone for a little while and just let him breathe, let him come to me," he rationalized, knowing that it would at least make him feel a little better about himself. He knew the dog liked him... he just didn't know how much.

I put this song on mixed CDs I made for two specific people in my life and put this song on it... One person could have cared less and never even mentioned the song ever... The other embraced the song and sang it back to me and it meant the world.
It's has been a few weeks since I listened to this song... I put the song away for a little while... not because it reminded me of anything, but because it's sentiment was just so overpowering... it's emotion - so raw.
Last Wednesday, I met a new friend John who had the video on his MySpace page and when I heard it again, it brought back memories, emotions, and tears.
And now, I can't stop listening to it...
I hope anyone who reads this blog listens to this song too... It's my gift to you. Download and give it to someone who means a lot to you. If you can't find it in stores or online and want me to email it to you, let me know and I'll send it to you. Make a mixed CD of all your favorite songs and put this song as Track #1... And give it to that special someone... and see how they react. Something tells me it'll really spark something beautiful between you both... like it did for me on at least two occasions. And then next time when you're not together, call them just to see if they're sleeping or they're dreaming... and if they're dreaming, are they dreaming of you. And sit back in disbelief and smile that they actually picked YOU.
xoxo
Calling You
- Blue October
There's something that I can't quite explain
I'm so in love with you
You'll never take that away
And if I've said a hundred times before
Expect a thousand more
You'll never take that away
Well expect me to be
Calling you to see
If you're okay when I'm not around,
Asking if you love me
I love the way you make it sound
Calling you to see
Do I too hard to make you smile,
To make us smile...
I will keep calling you to see
If you're sleeping or you're dreaming
If you're dreaming, are you dreaming of me?
I can't believe you actually picked me
I thought that the world had lost its sway
(It's so hard sometimes)
Then I fell in love with you
(Then came you)
And you took that away
(It's not so difficult, the world is not so difficult)
You take away the old, show me the new
And I feel like I can fly when I stand next to you
So while I'm on this phone
A hundred miles from home
I'll take the words you gave
And send them back to you
I only want to see
If you're okay when I’m not around,
Asking if you love me
I love the way you make it sound
Calling you to see
Do I try too hard to make you smile,
To make us smile....
I will keep calling you to see
If you're sleeping or you're dreaming
If you're dreaming, are you dreaming of me?
I can't believe you actually picked me...

A friend of mine forwarded me this link to the National Motor Vehicle License Bureau, apparently a little known division of the Federal Government. It enables you and basically anyone to get your driver's license information, address, and, if you got your license renewed in the last year or two, a scan of your license photo, just by going to this website.
Once your license comes up on the screen, make sure you click the box "PLEASE REMOVE"... This will remove your info from public viewing but not from law enforcement.
